I'm new to this, so don't really know where to start. As the family tales go, my ancestor was a Hessian soldier during the American Revolution and I need help getting started. I believe the original spelling of his last name was Kleur - which was later Anglicized to Clower. Any suggestions? Anything on-line to get me started? Thanks so much. Have you searched the AMREV-HESSIANS archives? That's the first place to start on this list. After that, HETRINA (Hessian Troops Remaining in America?) is most often cited but I don't believe it's online. I think the first goal would be to determine "from whence he came," meaning what area in what is now Germany (Hesse, Braunschweig, etc.) the other, more well-informed, members of this group will have many more ideas. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Sue Baadsgaard" <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Wednesday, May 16, 2012 6:06 PM Subject: Re: [AMREV-HESSIANS] Convention Army Barracks I'm new to this, so don't really know where to start.
