This is what I have and how I got it. I hired a German researcher in 2003 to look for information on Carl Simon Wrede (Jens Th. Kaufmann ([email protected]). He sent me 12 pages for $300.00. I was hoping to find Carl's family. He found lots of Wredes, but none that I could claim as Carl's family. He sent these items of interest: (I'm not sure where I got the name "Roll Call", but it seems to me that I either read it on the Rootsweb List or John Merz called it that on one of his Posts on the List) "Then I checked the Military Records on the "Brunswickers" that are available at the State Archives. I found the list of 1783 that shows Carl Simon Wrede (b. Braunschweig abt 1756/57), Georg Wrede (b. Oelper abt 1757). Heinrich Wrede (b. Thune abt Aug 1755 "I also found a muster list from Albemarle County of 14 Sep 1779 that shows the officer's servant Heinrich Wrede of regiment Riedesel and the Gemeiner (soldier) Carl Wrede of regiment v. Rhetz. The State Archives keep some more records of the Brunswickers but none that you did not check yourself, so no more information can be provided from military records. ____________________________________________________________________________ I have traced the Heinrich Wrede to a family in Nova Scotia who now goes by the last name of Freda. He is also listed in a undated document with others of the same church as a "communicating member". He is listed on the roll call at the Barracks outside Charlottesville in 1779. He moved to Surry County, NC, about 1793. There he is listed in the court records of a Methodist church as a Trustee.
