More information needed: I am planning a trip to Washington D.C. and need more information on how to narrow down my search for records on the Braunswick Corps., German records housed at the Library of Congress. My Hessian ancestor Andreas Widdeke (Wiedecker - Wiedecke - Witteke) came over in 1776 and was part of the 2nd Div., von Rhetz Regiment, Leib Company. Andreas Widdeke was born in Riddagshausen, Braunschweig (Braunswick), Germany. I have been told that the Library of Congress (National Archives) has some 30 rolls of microfilm which were obtained from Braunschweig, Germany. Would these records include enlistment records or rosters which my ancestor Andreas Wiedecke might be listed? I believe the microfilms are not indexed - so where would I start - does anyone have some helpful input? General Friedrich Baron von Riedesel was in charge of the Braunswick Troops - may I find troop rosters, etc. with his writings? Any help or suggestions would be appreciated!
