Hi, I'm getting reports that some people are having problems with emails/clicking on links going to rootsweb.com or the mailing lists or message boards... The problem is that instead of going where your supposed to you get sent to the home page of Ancestry.com. I have written the help desk at rootsweb, but they say it doesn't happen when they try it... (been going on for months..) For myself I have worked out a solution, I click on the link and when it starts to load I use a new tab and click on the link again the second seems to get me to the correct address...while the other goes to ancestry.com If you are having any of theses problems... PLease write /call either or both ancestry.com and help desk at rootsweb.com... Nelda Today well lived - makes every yesterday a dream of happiness, and every tomorrow a vision of hope. Question about having difficulty getting into Ancestry when using links of a message board not associated with ancestry.com? Doesn't one have to be a member for those pages to open? There is a free entry to TREES there if the owner of the tree invites you using your email. But that is to their tree not the search engine of Ancestry. Connie
Doesn't one have to be signed into Rootsweb for the particular page to display. IF once they open the URL sent in a message and it gives them the main page of a site, then one must sign into that site using an ID and password- it is free at Rootsweb. Then the page will display immediately. Connie
