Hello Louise, that is a pleasant surprise to hear from you so soon. I did some checking in the meantime at Google and luck was with me, I found a 1790 census of heads of households of Leyden, Mass. and here he was Johann UHDE as: ODEY, John, 1 male, 1 male under 16, and 3 females. There is also one BRIGGS, Zadok and two more Brigs. There is also one MELLISH, John with one male and 3 females. Try http://www.google.com and ask for Leyden, MA and there is quite a bit about that town just inside or north of Greenfield. Thanks again for helping us finding one lost Hessian in MA.
