    2. Hello everyone! While I am posting to this list, we have another family question: My grandmother is Celina Kaigle, who married Amedee Gamache, and who had 21 children! Their son, Adelard Gamache from St. Gregoire, is my mother's father. Celina's father was Joseph Kaigle, and her mother was Adelaide (Narbonne) LaLanne, b. May 1, 1824.. All of this is well-documented. It appears that the name 'Kaigle', was also spelled 'Gegle, Goekell' and other variants. A distant cousin claims that Joseph's father is Joseph Kaigle, b. 21 Jan 1790 in Chambly, Quebec, and his mother is Sophie Choiniere Sabourin. On 12 Nov 1839 he married Adelaide Narbonne LaLanne, in Marieville, Quebec. Their known children are, Julie Kaigle, b. 1836, and our Joseph. Now all of this is documented thus far. Now, this however, is where it becomes controvertial: My cousin claims that the father of this Joseph Gegle, Goekell, Kaigle is Antoine Frederic (Gockell) Kaigle, b. 1757 in Sprachbrucken-Darmstadt, Germany. My couisin also claims that Antoine married M. Anne Lajoie Maquet, Now, I realize that the identity of Antoine Gockell Kaigle is controvertial from proir posts on this subject.Their children he claims, are: Frederic Keel/Goekell/Kaigle b. 1787 Antoine Quequel/Geckell/Kaigle Joseph Gegle/Goekell/Kaigle b. 21 Jan 1790 in Chambly, PQ (our line) Pierre Goekel/Kaigle b. 21 Feb 1792 in L'Acadie, PQ Georges Gockell/Keigle/Kaigle Marie Veroniqu Goekel/Kaigle Alexis Goekell/Kaigle Charles Quegle/Goekell/Kaigle Marguerite Gockell/Kaigle (cousin's line) Louis Kegle/Kaigle Marie Kegle/Kekel/Kaigle. I have posted this as 'food for thought' in the event that anyone has found add'l information on Antoine Frederic Gockell/Kaigle! The cousin from whom this information comes, is very distantly related to our Gamache line (from Celina's husband), however, he lives in Quebec, and managed to put the entire Gamache family together by walking through graveyards there, and creating 'family groups' from the burials. Apart from possibly this assertion about Antoine, he has been 100% correct, as we had the family traced by the American-Canadian Society my mother belongs to, so we know he is right in his groupings! What happens to our names is just tragic. I recently had to get my mother's birth certificate from Warren, RI. Her name is "Lorraine Gamache." Her birth certificate says "Zorene Garoush" I asked the American-Canadian society to trace back Celina's Kaigle line begining with her to Antoine, if possible. I won't hear back for a few months. I'll certainly post the results. If in the meantime, there is any more info. on this, please do contact me. Merry Christmas!
