    3. Hallo Hessians; This came in from a non-subscriber to our list, but because it is quite of interest to our 340 subscribers, I am forwarding it, with a comment of mine at the end. John Merz ----- Original Message ----- From: "Barry Wetherington" <cbarrfly@comcast.net> To: "Winter-L" <Winter-L@rootsweb.com> Cc: "<iris.gates@gmail.com>; <Amrev-Hessians-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Monday, December 27, 2004 1:47 PM Subject: {not a subscriber} Winter, Peter - Deserted 17 June 1777 on arrival America (Hessian surnames) > Winter, Peter > > Waldeck, Einhausen; Servant ? ; Company 4; HETRINA Vol V; Deserted on 17 > June 1777 upon arrival in America, Lived with the Haines family in Greenwich > Township, Sussex County, West Jersey. Story in JSHA 1997 Journal > http://pages.prodigy.net/halschwalm/jshacomb.html > (Many Hesse surnames here - Thanks Liz/ Iris) My comment - I don't mind at all when mentioning is made of the JSHA, in fact, in one of my last messages I did refer to that organization which collects membership fees and asks for substantial contributions if you ask them to help or verify your research data. There is nothing wrong with this. Nothing is free in this world, except John Merz's help and advice and the service of the Rootsweb Mailing Lists. As the JSHA has donated much (or all?) of their research material to the Franklin and Marshall College in Lancaster, PA. see under http://library.fandm.edu/archives/ and you can find some at http://library.fandm.edu/archives/jsha.html and their librarian can be reached here Mike.Lear@fandm.edu and Christopher.Raab@fandm.edu (none of them subscribed to our mail list, therefore not as informed as they could be :) and I myself having at the request of The National Society of The Sons of the American Revolution donated to their new Library in Louisville, Kentucky, headed by their Librarian General Mr. Richard Austin my total collection of research material concerning Hessian Soldiers who remained in the United States of America, and is now available for research for Hessian descendants. Our Hessian Soldier ancestors have come a long way, baby! They came out of the dark and are being recognized and honoured ! This alone makes me very proud. Yours very truly John Helmut Merz (retired)

    3. Hi John, The cost of that organization is what sent me looking... when I found you and this list... The Items I have seen that they have on the Bonsteins actually seems to have come from an earlier Bonstein researcher and yet they wanted to charge me for research.. or membership. Thank you for This list and your Help you have given all of us... Nelda Nelda L.
