You are not looking for Christ.Wagner only, but any other Hessian soldier who may have be amongst his associates ie., neighbors, partner in land, sponsor of children (church records?), guardianship of children. I typed ["Old Town"+Md+hessian] into GOOGLE and had 136 hits. One, a Geo.Fazenbaker, reported as a Rev War Vet and former Hessian soldier. Any others who may have settled in the area, won't be that easy of course. > And it wouldn't be something he advertised, right? Personally, I don't think their service it was hidden as much as some folks believe. At least not after the British pulled up stakes. They were living among friends and relatives from Germany. I can't help much with information about Christ. Wagner, but I know a great deal about a Hessian soldier who lived in the same vicinity. My ancestor, Hessian soldier George Fazenbaker, lived perhaps 15 to 20 miles west of Old Town. See http://users.erols.com/ashlie/FAZENBAK.HTM George and his family lived on Big Savage Mountain a few miles north of present-day Westernport in what is now the eastern edge of Garrett County, Maryland. George Fazenbaker was already living there in 1787 when the first records of the area were made in 1787. These 1787 records listed over 300 homesteaders who were settled on state owned land in what is now Allegany County and Garrett County; these records do not mention a Wagner. George's service as a Hessian soldier was well known by his descendants. His service has been passed down with pride in family tradition to the present day. Thank you all for your helpful advice. I'm so glad to have found this list, I'm learning a great deal and I will keep you posted as I, hopefully, make progress. I'll just keep turning stones until I find something. Susan
