    3. Hello Denis, I want to acknowledge the receipt of your book "The Life of a German Mercenary - The Chaylt Family in Canada." and want to mention that I had plenty time to read it front to back when I had my wife in the Emergency for 9 1/2 hours. I did enjoy reading your study, although your description of the expedition to Fort Stanwix missed a very important part, that of the Battle of Oriskany, when the Patriot General Herkimer lost his life. The Jaegers were involved in this as well. (see book by Gavin K. Watt- Rebellion in the Mohawk Valley, 2002) Denis, as you are probably aware of, I have now retired and my research material has gone to the Marilyn Adams Genealogical Research Centre in Ameliasburg. They will display it there for Hessian research. I am still finding the odd item which I am collecting for a later transfer. I will add your book to this collection, unless you want to mail them one yourself. Thanks again, and good luck in further life, and as far as your poems go, why not put them over the AMREV-HESSIANS mail list where you also find the Stegmann descendants e-mails. Best wishes, John Merz ----- Original Message ----- From: "denis robillard" <robipoet@hotmail.com> To: <hessian@sympatico.ca> Sent: Saturday, November 13, 2004 2:13 PM Subject: STEGMAN and German poems > > Hi John:: > > Hope you are well and got my Hessian book in one piece.
