Hello Joyce, although your Hessen-Hanau soldier Nikolaus Hamann settled after the American Revolution in Quebec Province, his friend and buddy Georg MAGER from the same hometown Dudenhofen, indentured himself in 1782 in Pennsylvania for three years. Back in 1993 I published a special edition of my German-language book "Er war ein Hesse" with a special chapter attached, composed by the Dudenhofen Town Historian Herr Manfred Resch, titled: "28 Dudenhoefer Soldaten in Kanada und U.S.A." It contained an alphabetical listing of all 28 soldiers originating from Dudenhofen and their history, this is what it says about Georg Mager: Johann Georg Mager, geb. am 3. April 1752. Vater: Johann Georg Mager (Waffenschlosser- gunsmith) Mutter: Anna Katharina Walter oo 29.11.1746 Pate: Johann Georg Resch, Seine Groesse war 5 Fuss 5 Zoll 3 Strich. (btw. Hetrina VI does not have more, except iy lists his date of indenture as Nov.1782) Herr Manfred Resch is not on the Internet, he may be reached by regular mail Postfach 20032 63087 Rodgau Germany Hope this helps you - John Helmut Merz From: <caboose.2@juno.com> To: <QUEBEC-HESSIANS-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Saturday, September 04, 2004 10:47 AM Subject: [Que-Hessians] Georg Mager Dudenhofen, Germany > Thanks Norm and John, > I did find something about Georg MAGER on the internet. > He and my fourth great grandfather Hessian, Nikloaus HAMANN were > from the same town, Dudenhofen (now Rodhau). > ........he got married without permission.....Historical Review of Berks > County. > ........indentured himself in November 1782 at Reading or > Lancaster.....Johannes Schwalm Historical Association. > > I gave my 'Hessian' books I had purchased from John Malz to my > granddaughter, the librarian, so will ask her for help also. > > Does anyone have a HETRINA Vol Vl that they could look up Georg MAGER in > it for me, please? > Thanks, > Joyce >
