    1. Hessian Descendant-Lapel Pins & Pendants
    2. Robert A. Fetters
    3. AmRev Listers, In February of 2004, I brought to the Hessian List this thought: "I belong to many genealogical societies and organizations, like the SAR, Descendants of George Washington's Valley Forge, Flagon and Trencher: the Society of Colonial Inn Keepers, and many "First Family" groups. Most, if not all, have lapel pins recognizing either membership or descent. I think a "Hessian Descendant" (lapel) pin might make a nice conversation piece, particularly at genealogical gatherings. I would be proud to wear such a lapel pin." As most of you probably know, the first order of 500 lapel pins (antique gold finish) was received and sold out in 8 days. Every one seemed well pleased with the quality and price of the pins. Since there was a demand for more pins, a second order was placed. However, to fill out a minimum quantity for the best price break (500 total), I completed the order with some pendants of the same design. The pendants have no pin on the back, but have a loop attached to the edge, and a gold ring in the loop. They will not make fashionable looking jewelry, but will be great to reflect Hessian descent on either a neck chain or charm bracelet (or any place else you might want to use). The pin and pendant are identical, being 7/8" in diameter, and are die struck (3D) in a metallic antique gold finish, as opposed to a printed flat surface. This method of manufacture and finish allowed us to maintain great detail on a small pin. As several correspondents requested, we were able to keep the names of all the Hessian Principalities on the pin, but to be readable, they are on the outer ring of the pin (as opposed to the inner ring of the plaque). "Hessian Descendant," American Revolution" and "1776 - 1783" are all readable to the naked eye, but your eyes may need help with the Principalities. The 3D Hessian soldier is similar to the plaque. A picture of the pin/pendant can be e-mailed to you, though the picture is darker than the actual. Just e-mail me at < fetters@bright.net > and ask for "Hessian Pin Picture" in the title. I will "reply" and attach the picture by return. Please send a US$ check or US$ money order for the correct amount to Robert A. Fetters, 215 Dun Road, Chillicothe, OH 45601-1173. (John Merz says: "Canadian Seniors don't pay extra fees for such US$ money orders.") Cash is sent at YOUR own risk, and once I mail to you, the pins and/or pendants are yours (I don't think the cost of insurance can be justified). Be sure to include YOUR return ADDRESS with payment, so I know where to mail the items. Please specify if you want pins or pendants, and how many of each. If you do not specify, I will send pins---at least until all are sold. Also, please limit your order to a maximum of 20 pins or pendants, total , at least until September 1st. I suspect I'll have plenty left over, so you can place a second order after September 1st, if you want more than an initial 20 total. There is no profit in this venture, so please be fair with your financial dealings. Pins and pendants cost $1.75 each. The padded mailing envelope and the postage (depending on destination and quantity) are as follows. Note that pins and pendants have virtually the same weight, so mailing can be figured on the total number of items purchased. Destination US Canada 1 or 2 pins or pendants $0.60 $0.80 3 to 6 pins or pendants $0.80 $1.05 7 to 11 pins or pendants $1.00 $1.30 12 to 15 pins or pendants $1.25 $1.55 16 to 20 pins or pendants $1.50 $1.80 Examples: 4 items (pins or pendants) ordered @ $1.75 = $7.00. US envelope and postage = $0.80. Total = $7.80 (US). 4 items ordered @ $1.75 = $7.00. Canada envelope & postage = $1.05. Total = $8.05 (US$) If you order 1 pin and 1 pendant for mailing to the US, each pin will cost you and me $2.05---you are getting at my cost. If you have any questions, please e-mail me before sending any payment. All payments must be in US dollars. I can not use 500 more Hessian Descendant items. However, neither can I afford to take any sales at a loss, as given above. I appreciate and trust your honesty, and will ship ASAP after I receive your order, following the above directions. If you also include your e-mail address, I can contact you with any problems with your order. As for the previous offering of pins, the sale will be on a 1st come, 1st served basis. No e-mail orders will be taken, and nothing can be held pending receipt of payment---sorry, I just want to be fair. If you replied to my earlier poll for numbers of items wanted, I thank you. However, do not consider that poll reply as an "order placed." You may order, only by following the above guidelines. Oh yes---the following is a copy of my answer to the question as to who is eligible to buy the "Hessian Descendant" pins and pendants: "Any Hessian descendant (or any one who thinks they are one) can buy one or more Hessian Descendant [items]. Even non-descendants, but who think they want to be identified with us Hessian Descendants can buy pins---at least until they are gone. This is NOT a lineage society, with stringent descendant proofs needed." These are made available for fun and fellowship. Thank you all. Robert A. (Bob) Fetters, Descendant of Hessian Soldier, Rev. Johann Henrich HAMMER

    3. Robert, will you please enclose your mailing address again? I would like to place an order and accidently deleted your original posting. Also, I just purchased a book on WV Rev. War Patriots. If anyone wants me to look up Hessians who may have "gone south", please let me know. Some of the names I recognize are Jacob Baer, Ulrich Hostetter, Ludwich Wohlford and Ludowick Zirkle. I'm sure there are others. Ingrid ----- Original Message ----- From: "Robert A.
