Dear John; Sorry to see you go. But time does march on, and at some point one has to make a decision, even though I'm sure it was a difficult one.. You will be sorely missed by all those on the AMREV-HESSIAN-L and the QUEBEC-HESSIAN-L lists and all the others you helped over the years. You have been a great help to not only myself, but to many others who simply did not know where to begin searching for their Hessian ancestors. You almost single-handedly made the name Hessians and Brunswickers kown here in Quebec and elsewhere in North America, not as mercenaries, but as valourous soldiers who came over to help keep this country what it is today. I wish you (and Emmi of course) long years of good health and active research, as I know you will not quit - genealogists and historians simply do not stop!! Unfortunately I wasn't able to provide as much support over the last couple of years as I wanted to, and I felt bad about that. But family events of which you are aware intervened.
