    1. Oaths of Allegience

    3. A while back there was mention of the Oaths of Allegiance that each state collected for the new fed. gov. after the Rev. War. I have been told that Pa. Oaths were collected in a book by Thomas Wescott " Oaths of Allegience to the State of Pa." and, that Maryland's Oaths are in a card file at the Baltimore State Archives. I have not been able to find any reference to Wescott's book, either by title, subject of author. I also have not seen any references to the Archives files. It seems to me that since each state collected them for the federal gov. that there ought to be a collection of these somewhere at NARA. I have not found anything. Could these be like Redemption Certificates that Hessians staying behind filled out? In other words, lost? It also seems to me that these would be invaluable for placing our Hessians after the war where they first settled. If anyone has any ideas or information I would be very grateful.
