    3. Take this suggestion with a grain of salt until you get word from a knowledgeable Hessian researcher/historian: Weithe, Johann, birthplace: Rostock, age: 35/05, discharged in Canada 1783. (a Brunswicker) ...(maybe that sour kraut and good friend John Merz has him and would enlighten you too with FREE information as he has for many others for many years)... (do they want want fries with that too?)... ----- Original Message ----- From: <Jlwhitelj@aol.com> To: <AMREV-HESSIANS-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Tuesday, May 24, 2005 4:06 PM Subject: Re: [HESSIAN] Hanau, Germany. 3. Hi John White, Your: affirm in fact that Johannes was Hessian and not Brunswicker like Karl. Makes me think that possibly you believe that the term Hessian used on this list only means a German soldier that was a Hessian. Forgive me if I'm incorrect, but OUR term Hessian is used as a general naming for all German soldiers who served in any German unit in the Rev. War on the English side. So your Johannes in this cercumstances would be considered a Hessian, even though it was not his unit nor where he came from..... Nelda LM and not a Hessian researcher Nelda L.
