John, Unfortunately no headstone exists for my Hessian ancestor, Georg Weckesser. Hope you have a worthwhile trip. Hello Hessian descendants; So far I have heard from one of you supporting me with pictures from Hessian grave dedication with a plaque. Don't tell me you missed my appeal of 10 days ago. Don't tell me that nobody else but Robert Fetters honored his Hessian ancestor. Don't tell me that this "Hessian Soldier" plaque and the "Hessian Descendant" plaque was a wash-out, and all the 'hoopla' was just a dream? Where are all those Hessian descendants who are so proud of their Hessian ancestor? I've got the last 12 Hessian lapel pins from Bob Fetters and will be pinning them on the officials who will be greeting me over at the homeland of "your" Hessians, and just hope they don't ask me for pictures of Hessian plaques on their gravestones. Well, I can show them at least one, that of the Hessian Henrich Hammer, who also has a plaque of the 'Sons of the American Revolution' on the other side. John ////////////////////////////////////// What I am really hoping for perhaps a picture of a Hessian descendant (or descendants) in front of the S.A.R. display. (How about Charles?) Thanks in advance for all your help Btw. notice my new e-mail address - You know I did retire from the Hessians. Dear Diane and Fred Vickerson: How many old 'Vickerson' headstones can be found on Prince Edward Island? Not one to honour your ancestor? Not one to remember him, the first one of your tribe to settle on that beautiful island, the smallest Province of Canada. The cradle of our Confederation. Nothing there to remember those harde first settlers, the Hessians? Perhaps that could be a project for next summer? Ask Lothar Zimmermann, the German professor at Charlottetown University, for help and assistance. Let's do something! Yours John Helmut Merz, a proud Canadian and a proud Hessian. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Diane and Fred Vickerson" <diane-fred.vickerson@sympatico.ca> Sent: Tuesday, May 24, 2005 5:53 AM Subject: Re: [HESSIAN] Re: Trip to Hanau, Germany. in June 2005. > John, > > Unfortunately no headstone exists for my Hessian ancestor, Georg Weckesser. > Hope you have a worthwhile trip. > Fred Vickerson >
