    1. Re: [HESSIAN] Unsubscribe - (really a Good-Bye message)
    2. Julie Miller
    3. Hello all! I think I, Julie Miller, may be the one to whom John is referring since I did send in a request to unsubscribe in the aforesaid improper manner. Apologies! I actually have just recently and excitedly discovered that I am descended from Heinrich Linker orginally from Hesse-Cassel (Erksdorf), who was in Regiment Von Ditfurth, he deserted from Charleston and settled in northern Mecklenburg county (NC)...where I live now, though I was born in California. My story is very interesting and amazing...but my problem is that I have such limited time!! I am a mother of two young kids, work full-time outside the home, and am trying to squeeze in time to learn a little more about my ancestry and perhaps write my story. Although I am very computer literate (I actually work as a computer software trainer) I am totally unfamiliar with finding information on a list like this. I admittedly just don't know how to do anything in this "list" service and, unfortunately, don't think that I have enough time to learn! I signed up only about two weeks ago, but have not been able to spend the necessary time to become familiar with how to use this list service. So, with all that being said, I appreciate the unsubscribe instructions and may join again at another date when I have more time to devote! If that makes sense. Incidentally, any of you are welcome to correspond with me at the dotrain4u@yahoo.com address if you would like to swap stories! Many thanks, Julie John Merz <hessian@sympatico.ca> wrote: Being human myself I know that we all are prone to make mistakes - and we should show understanding - no reason to get mad abaout it, but it has to be explained that it is not done with just writing to the list for all to read that you forgot how to go about unsubscribing. Julia Miller asked us yesterday, Lynne Miller is doing it today. This is what you have to do - click on this address AMREV-HESSIANS-L-request@rootsweb.com and write just one word unsubscribe into the text field, nothing else, Then send and this will do the trick. You will get a confirmation by return mail. If you were a Digest subscriber, just changed the -L to -D and that will take care of this. But please, let me say this - Now ladies, I am personally sorry to see you go, I know in the case of Julia, she is a descendant of our Niagara Hessian Johannes SCHNUR, I bet she has been a subscriber for many many years and has found most of her ancestor's history on this mail list. I bet you anything her time with us was very enlightening to her, she could have told us good-bye in a little more personal manner, after all, aren't we all family? So, as a last word from me, the original list owner, and I am sure, our new list mom Nelda will agree with me, when you feel the time has come to leave us and the list, to give us a little 'Good-bye' with some words and your reason. We'll understand, John Merz ----- Original Message ----- From: To: Sent: Friday, February 04, 2005 12:52 AM Subject: Re: [HESSIAN] Unsubscribe > Lynne Miller > Dyevalou@aol.com > > unsubscribe > > > ==== AMREV-HESSIANS Mailing List ==== > Mail List archives are your best bet to find information, try > You can search the archives for a specific message or browse them, going from one message to another. > To search: http://listsearches.rootsweb.com/?list=AMREV-HESSIANS > To browse: http://archiver.rootsweb.com/AMREV-HESSIANS-L > **************** > ==== AMREV-HESSIANS Mailing List ==== 6000 Hessian soldiers remained in North America after the Peace in 1783, the majority settled in the Eastern United States and Canada.
