At that time I went through all my files to find a Christian Schaeffer, and luckily, there was one who did fit the bill. You did mention that you found him too as a POW of Trenton at the age of 15, and that he was kept in a camp at Reading, PA, and worked for a nearby farmer named HOCH in Exeter Ts.. He later married the farmer's daughter, and moved down the road a few miles to Yellow House, PA near Boyertown. You did a fine job of finding your ancestor, in fact you found much more than I ever did. As I said, the name Schaefer, Schaeffer, Schaffer, Shaver, etc, is not easy to research, but when I look at my Trenton prisoner list, there is no Christian of any kind of Schaffer variation to find. I therefore suspect that your Christian is the one I mentioned to Barbara, and this is the Hesse-Hanau soldier Christian Schaeffer who indentured himself on 11 Sep. 1782, somewhere near Reading, PA, for 3 years. Now this SCHEFER/SCHAEFFER, Christian was born 1755/56 at Nauheim near Huenfeld/Hessen. Perhaps cou could confirm this or give us the data you have found to clear this up for everyone's benefit.
