Hi List and Bob, Yes I agree that good old fashioned research must be accomplished... but when you lock in old fashioned research with DNA study those brick walls can tumble down. On a different list I am only a member of, BP2000, we do a full name study we have over 400 documented lines of Beattys all spellings. all different, supposedly different because no documentation can be found locking these together, as we add test results to the matching DNA study, for the documented lines we are infact finding matching lines... so lets say john Beatty line 005 has the same DNA as George Beattie line 010, we can refine researching for documentation in the areas that both were in in the same time period. or backwards in the areas these families were known to be in..looking for that piece of documentation that will be the finale bit of proof to join those lines. Of course, as with anything it does not allways work, but it is a viable research tool in my opinion.. Nelda
