    3. Hi Bob Brook, I just recently signed up for web site. I read about it in the Sons of the Am. Revolution magazine (my husband is a member). Would you mind looking up my ancestor in on the list of prisoners held at Lancaster? His last name was Shotzberger and the family is not clear which brother, Christopher or Zachariah, was the Hessian. Christopher married and was buried in Snyder, Pa. The Hessian soldier according to family lore was held as a POW on a farm in Pennsylvania. Really appreciate your help and am really enjoying the web site. Thanks to John Merz. Bob Brooks <rcbrooks@pivot.net> wrote: Richard -- In _Johannes Schwalm The Hessian_ (Johannes Schwalm Historical Assoc., 1976), pp. 229-241, is "A Combined List of prisoners held at Lancaster 1777-1778" containing a list of 712 German and 49 British POWs with the names of employers for about half the Germans. Alas, this list does not include a POW named JAKOB HACHENBERGER nor an employer named Captain Jakob Zimmerman. In fact, the list does not include a POW hamed Hachenberger or any similar name. As for employers, Bernard Zimmerman of Hempfield is listed as employing both Ludwig Landwehr of 2.Kompanie, Regiment von Loserg, and Wilhelm Steinbrecker of Leibkompanie, Regiment von Knyphausen. In _Hessische Truppen im Amerikanischen Unabhangigkeitskrieg (HETRINA), Index nach Familiennamen_ [Hessian roops in the American Independencewar (HETRINA) Index by Familynames], vols II and III, I fail to find anyone named Hachenberger. These volumes cover the three regiments which were captured at Trenton NJ on 26 Dec 1776; i.e., Regiment von Loberg, Regiment von Knyphausen, and Regiment Rall. I do not own HETRINA vol I which includes the composite Grenidier Battalions.
