I just happened on this site while looking for Hesse-Kassel and discovered Johann Peter Sippel on the list of Hessians who decided to stay in America, after the war was over. I am also related to the famous Deborah Samson Gannett who dressed up as a man and fought with the Americans until she was wounded and found out by the physician. Does anyone know the background of Johann Sippel?
