Adam, I don't see anything close to that surname in John Merz's "Guide," however, I do happen to know that there was a clan of DEFFINBAUGHs in the southern Bedford Co., PA/ Allegany Co., MD area. I don't know if these folks descended from a Hessian, but several Hessians, including mine, did eventually settle there. Hope this helps. Susan
