    1. [AMREV-HESSIANS] Frederic Heil

    3. Hello - I am trying to find out more about a great grandfather, Frederic Heil who arrived in Quebec June, 1776 with the Hesse-Hanau Infinity Regt., Major Martens Co., (MR)...according to DeMarce's book. At the end of her listing, it tells where he was born and then says, "Capt. Scheel's Co. (MHH)". I can not find any references to Scheel's or Marten's activities during the war. I have been doing my genealogy since a teenager, but this is a wall that I just broke through and is a bit confusing trying to internalize the Hessian involvement. I am wondering if I am correct in my findings that the Hesse-Hanau Regiment, that arrived in 1776, pretty much was joined with the Brunswick army, and as one article put it, "shared their fate"? I am also confused, as I see Ebprinz quite a bit and wonder if that also refers to the regiment that Heil belonged to. I am also curious if he deserted, or was dismissed...as he remained in LaPrairie and married. Lastly, would HETRINA VI tell me more about Frederic Heil, and if so, what is the best way to go about getting information from that resource? Thank you very much for any pointers anyone may share. Best, Jim
