    3. To all the visitors who came to the 'HESSIAN DAY' at the Rose House Museum on Saturday, the 21. August 2004: I personally wish to thank all the visitors from near and far who came on this beautiful sunny Saturday to celebrate with us and made it an exceptionally wonderful day. I was very happy to see so many people, ans as one lady told me, she came 2900 miles to attend our Hessian pioneer ancestors celebration. We also had a Hessian Jaeger in uniform and his wife as a camp follower come up from Pennsylvania to show us how it was during the American Revolution. He took the microphone and spoke of his experineces. Many Hessian descendants met new cousins, and we all were entertained with good German accordion music, and the Bratwurst was delicious. If any visitors want to tell us about their impressions and experiences, please write to the list you belong to. We'll be glad to hear about. All in all it was a beautiful day!! Who couldn't come, it was your loss, you missed so much. My thanks in particular to Mrs. Susan Rose, curator of the Museum for an outstanding organization, and all the officials from the County, I enjoyed every minute of this day. Thanks to all. Yours very truly John Helmut Merz, (back home in Hamilton, and resting my weary bones ;) (Note from e-mail on 19.Aug.2004) To all the many descendants of those settlers in Township #5, Marysburg, Bay of Quinte, it's only two days to the beginning of this exciting event. =

Lee retreated, having embarrassed the British but failed to destroy the fort or its guns.

My wife Emmi just said 'what did you print all those Guide's for, they are just sitting here and nobody wants to find their Hessian soldier anymore, or have they found them all? Anyway, this is just a reminder, $20 including postage, and if you give me the name of the Hessian you looking for with your order, I'll mail along a Personal Data File for that name (if I have the name in my records) and won't charge you the regular $15.00 fee. Your personal check is fine, from USA in US funds) mail to John H. Merz, 703-350 Concession St., Hamilton, Ontario, L9A 1B6 Canada Otherwise if you are coming to the Rose House Museum festivities on 21. August 2004 near Picton, Ontario, "HESSIAN DAY" I'll have some available right there ($15.) without PDF and postage.

Looking at the name in question, I have a feeling we may be talking about the Hessian soldier Henrich SCHNUECKER who was taken prisoner at Trenton on Christmas 1776, and was listed as a prisoner throughout the war in Hetrina III. He was a soldier with the Hesse-Kassel Regiment v. Knyphausen, 3. Comp. I have not found any other infromation about him, and nobody has asked for him on this list so far. This is just a hunch. 3. Elinor, you may try Conrad EWALD, he was a soldier with the Hessen- Hanau Regiment Erbprinz and deserted 10 Dec, 1778 at Hackettstown, New Jersey. He is listed in my new 'GUIDE' (check the mail list archives) Cheers, John Merz ----- Original Message ----- From: "elinor perlich" <gerperlich@yahoo.com> Sent: Tuesday, August 10, 2004 1:09 AM Subject: [HESSIAN] Conrad Ewaldter > A freind of mine has Hessian ancestor Conrad Ewaldter > - family settled in Illinois. > I attempted to search through the archives, but may > not have used the proper spelling. > Is this a familiar name on the list? > Elinor >
