Since I posted this, new tests have become available. I use the company familytreedna.com. I have a group there called Am*d*n. You can join the group either before or after testing. OK, so the test you could take is called Family Finder. It is good for both men and women. It tests for cousins on both sides of the family out to about 5th Cousin relation, which equates to a common ancestor in the early 1800s. The Amaden spelling originated at about the same time, so we would likely be matches. The company is having a sale right now for $199. That might seem steep, but it will confirm a lot of genealogy paperwork and you may find some new cousins! Please email me at chris (at) amaden (dot) com to continue the dialogue.
