My grandfather fathers name is being listed as Gordon James, Gordon John, and John Gordon with both spellings of the last name. It could be just a matter of the transcriber inverting names, guessing at handwriting; whatever the case may be, the y have been successful in keeping his spouse, Edith Carpenter accurate. I also am trying to find the middle name for Harley T. Amadon/Amidon, which is his father. One other spelling I have come across is Amidowne. Has anyone else found any other rendering of this last name? I am a stickler for detail and would love tis to be about as accurate as history lets me. Thank you for any information.
