They did, however, have a daughter born in 1861 named Elma Arvilla. See the 1870 Clymer, Chautauqua Co., New York census. I do have a record for an Elmer O. Amidon born 09 April 1861 who was the son of Otis Amidon and Grace Cooley. Otis died in 1864 in Pembroke, Genesee Co., New York and is buried in the Old Papermill Cemetery on the Cook farm in Genesee. You will find Elmer and his mother Grace enumerated in the 1870 census in Pembroke, Genesee Co., New York. Martha Hagar died 29 December 1900. I know that his father is Lewis Amidon(1825-1896) and he married Florence Ella Dymond(1868-1953), but I am getting conflicts as to if his mother is Martha M. Hager(1829-???) or Grace Cooley(1820-???). Any help to clarify would be appreciated. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. I've set up a DNA group at family tree dna called Am*d*n. We're researching the male lineage of the family with the goal of finding our pre-American heritage and to confirm our paper trail research back to Roger Amadowne of Salem, Massachusetts. So far we've had 3 Amidon/Amaden members confirm that we are connected back to Roger's son Philip (1670-1747) because we were descended from different sons of Philip's. We've also ruled out the Italian family Amadio. If you are interested in participating, please go to the family tree dna website and search for Amidon (or Amaden, Ameden, Amadon) to locate our group. You can also email me directly at chris (at) amaden (dot) com for more information. Thanks, Chris Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. I guess I never saw your message. Handwritten family tree had Lamb and Amidon after her name/not in a straight line (so she could be Lamb and her mother Amidon or who knows). She and her husband raised their kids in Rochester. I will look at the census data you reference and see if there are any more hints. Here is the link to the New York State Department of Health site for birth records: http://www.health.state.ny.us/vital_records/ It would take a LOT more research, but I think she *might* be the daughter of Byron and Mary GODFREY, found in Stephentown, Rensselaer, NY. The 1900 census lists daughters Maud, Martha and Lottie in the correct approximate age. But, the 1905 NY state census lists a "Marcha Godfrey", age 17, born about 1887. This matches with the Martha listed in the 1900 census, born December 1887. I suggest you send for Floyd's birth certificate and Marcia's death certificate to find out for certain.
