In reading Henry P. Johnston's "The Storming of Stony Point", he cites Major Benjamin FISHBOURNE as aide-de-camp to Brigadier General Anthony Wayne at the time of the Stony Point action. Among the officers who signed the Oath of Allegiance at Valley Forge in 1778 was Benjamin Fishbourne, 4th PA Regiment. This is the Regiment formerly commanded by Wayne. It seems logical that Wayne would select an aide from among officers with whom he served. I have also found another reference to an officer, William FISHBURN, who is claimed to have the same position as aide to General Wayne. See below: <<FISHBURN, William, soldier, born in 1760; died in Walterborough, South Carolina, 3 November 1819. He was on the staff of General Anthony Wayne, to whom he was aide-de-camp at the capture of Stony Point, and afterward attained the rank of major general. He was a member of the convention that framed the constitution of South Carolina, and subsequently a member of the legislature.>> It appears that the latter cite is in error. Any discussion? I would like to spread this word to as many American Revolutionary War sites as possible. Best, Hugh Best Hugh
