Take a look at the seige of Ft. Stanwix near present day Rome NY and the battle of Oriskany in which Gen Herkimer was killed. Both involve St. Ledger's attempt to move up the Mohawk valley to the aid of Gen Brugoyne at Saratoga. He was stopped at Ft. Stanwix and went back to Canada. Don R
