I have been trying to find the militia unit records for the town of Newcastle, Lincoln Co., Maine for both the F&I War and the Rev. War. If there wasn't a town militia, where would they have served? My ancestor Hugh HOLMES was married ca 1760 and should have been in a militia unit during the F&I War and was a 1st Lt. during the Rev. War--I have found his Continental Army records. thanks, Charles
