    3. Can some one help me understand why a soldier in the Rev. (or spouse) would NOT have applied for or gotten either a pension or a land bounty warrant. Would there be some other post war compensation that they could have gotten in lieu of these? The most common reason for one who was not an officer is simply that they didn't live long enough. The most "open" pension was not created until 1832. There were earlier pension laws, but were more restrictive, such as for invalids. J. Quick
