Just because your ancestor is not in the Patriot Index is no reason not to apply. If you ancestor has valid service, and your can document descent, you should join. That way all your counsins can join, too. I have several ancestors with valid service, but I can't sufficiently document the lineage. I continue to look for the missing link. So far I have 35 approved Revolutionary ancestors. I have LOTS of other ancestors, but I can't document from there to here. Phyllis in GA

It's kind of hard now to even get supplemental ancestors as they are what about $30 or more each? Persons on SS certainly can't afford all that. I was just pointing out that just because an ancestor isn't listed in the DAR does not indicate that they didn't serve. I can prove descent but somehow I don't think the DAR will take me......a gender thing I think! Norb
