Mike, Tom posted this link a couple of weeks ago. I entered "Morgan" in the search engine and it shows that Daniel Morgan was on the muster rolls from Dec. 1777 to June 1778. Captain Thomas Posey was there, too, for this same period of time so I assume the whole unit was there? It is my understanding that shortly after June 1778 Morgan returned home to rest and have time to recover from some illnesses and wounds. There was some controversy over a promotion he felt he had earned but didn't get at that time so he wasn't in military service again until his most famous battles in the Carolinas. Most of his unit was either killed or wounded so he left Valley Forge with the understanding that he was going to recruit more frontier riflemen. george ----- Original Message ----- From: "Tom Montague" <tommontague@cox.net> To: <american-revolution@rootsweb.com> Sent: Wednesday, December 20, 2006 2:50 PM Subject: Re: [AMERICAN-REVOLUTION] Alpheus Lewis > Do a search of the Valley Forge "Muster Roll" at > http://valleyforgemusterroll.org/QueryMSAccess.asp > > I counted 75 Lewis's of which there are 3 John's from Virginia and 1 > Thomas > but no James's.
