    2. George wrote that his link was to an article that explained >>how the original parts of Maryland which later became part of Va, Pa, De were organized at the beginning of The Revolutionary War. One example is Berkeley County which was in Frederick, Maryland at the beginning of the revolution . . . << The repetitive article really does no such thing. It doesn't mention Berkeley Co., which was always in VA/WV and never in MD. It *does* mention Morgan's Rifles traveling through MD on the way North, and the locales from which the German Battallion was recruited--which did not have anything to do with conflicting geopolitical boundaries, but were specified by the authorizing legislation. While the MD-PA boundary in small spots was unclear, most of it had been pretty clear since the 1750s, the last time that MD seriously claimed any present PA territory. It also may be that MD had designs in the 1770s on the present part of WV now immediately west of Allegany and Garret Co.'s, MD, but this was never pursued. The boundary on the SW of DE with MD became pretty clear in the 1770-1773 period, although in the great swamp and along the Northwest Fork there were spots both difficult to survey and susceptible to drainage/watercourse changes. Cheers, Judy

    3. I stand corrected, and, enlightened --I think. But, between the two of us I hope we gave a few folks a new place to start looking for those elusive ancestors? Thanks.
