Barbara writes, >>Particularly that part about the tearing apart of the social fabric by use of Schooling..............What Rubbish!<< Perhaps you are not aware of the brutal boarding schools far from home to which Native American children were sent by the Bureau of Indian Affairs, where they were punished if they used their own languages and it was virtually impossible for their families to visit them. Possibly you do not know of the long history of use of religious missionary schools as part of the colonial program. Perhaps you do not know of such insidious little programs as the one that cross-bred churro sheep in the Southwest so their fleece no longer had the clean characteristics that enabled ready use in a water-poor environment. It is much more pleasant to think of our past as sweetness and light, rather than land theft, imposed impoverishment, racism and murder condoned by the majority. The society of the Greek philosophers was also a slave society. Judy
