Captain John SHELTON appears to have duty with VA Militia. Captain Clough SHELTON who was at Stony Point Battle with VA CL troops. Colonel LEWIS WILLIS Major SAMUEL HAWES Company Officers Captain THOMAS BLACKWELL Captain CLOUGH SHELTON Captain JOHN GILLISON Captain DAVID LAIRD Captain JOHN MOUNTJOY Captain JOHN SPOTSWOOD The 10th VA was redesignated after Valley Forge (winter 77-78) as the 6th VA. See below. 10th (Steven's/Green's) Virginia Regiment [1777-1778] - [A] Redesignated as the 6th (Green's) Virginia Regiment [Sept. 1778] - [B] Captured at Charlestown May 1780 Disbanded Jan. 1783 It appears that my first guess was right, but I had selected the wrong 6th VA. At the time of Stony Point (1779) Captain Clough Shelton was in the 6th VA. It therefore follows that John Cason was also in the 6th VA and originally in the 10th VA. Have not found a VA Regimental Commander by the name of WALKER. Hopes this helps. Best regards, Hugh <[email protected]>
