Query: Does anyone have evidence of a Continental Army unit designated the 14th Virginia in 1781? Sanchez-Saavedra says that the 14th was renumbered in 1778 and there was no 14th after that. I have uncovered evidence, however, that seems to indicate that Thomas Gaskins Virginia Regiment of 1781 was designated the 14th. I have posed this question to the right people at the Virginia State Archives and they don't know either. Any info would be of interest as my ancestor, Robert Brown, was in that unit.
