Hugh thanks for the info on the 14th VA. Your first post matches what I have. Where the water gets murky is in 1781 when Von Steuben sent the new recruits to Albemarle Old Courthouse to be equipped, clothed, and "sized", they were designated in the size roll as the 14th VA. I know for a fact that some of them were not in the old 14th VA as several were from the Culpeper militia and had been sized there. Based on my conversation with Vince at the VA State library nobody has noticed this 1781 14th. The article you sent in your second post is fantastic! Thanks so much!
