Hello My name is Debbie Wood and I'm told that two of my direct descendants from my SAYLE/SALE family were Revolutionary War Veterans. They lived in Wilkes Co NC which formed in 1777 from Surry Co NC and the District of Washington. I've not found them on any online rosters and would like to ask if anyone with the resources at hand would have a look for them. Your time is greatly appreciated! Debbie Wood Here are their names and info I received about them. I am told that William SAYLE (1725-1788)of Wilkes County, NC and his son Cornelius SALE (1750-after 1811) both served NC or VA (perhaps State Line?)in the Revolutionary War. I was given this with no source listed.... "There is a record of the imprisonment of William Sale II during the Revolutionary War". William Sale (c. 1720-1788) served in the war, even to the point of becoming a POW, and several if not all of his sons fought for the patriot cause." "My understanding of the imprisonment is that it involved William and others of the Wilkes County militia taken by the redcoats in their devastating incursions into North Carolina." __________________________________ Discover Yahoo! Debbie, I did a search for Sale/Sayle/Sales/Sayles in the Rev War Pension Database. As you can see below, all of these that are listed are in the plural and in RI. None from NC. I can send info if you are sure of a connection or highly suspicious of one. Most of these run 5 to 20 pages long and are hand written.
