Can anyone deduce which Virginia Regiment John Cason enlisted in? His pension file #8184 provides the following information. He enlisted in Spotsylvania County, VA in February 1777 for three years under Captain Shelton in the regiment commanded by Colonel Walker and another undecipherable name. He also served under Colonel Fleury in General Wayne's division Virginia Line. He states he was marched to Williamsburg where the regiment was organized and from there to Danbury near the city of Philadelphia where the army went into winter quarters. In the spring they marched to New York and from there to the north. He was in the storming and taking of Stony Point in July 1779 where he continued for two months. From there they marched to the south to join General Gates army. On his way south at Fredericksburg, VA in February 1780, his term of enlistment expired and he was discharged. He served as a private. He was living in Anson County, NC when he filed his application for pension and died there in October 1834. Does anyone have an educated guess as to which Virginia regiment he was a member of?
