Abram Smith's 8th battalion, Cumberland County, Pennsylvania militia. He was born in Ireland; died, 1807, in Kerrsville, Pa. James Kerr (1744-1827) served, 1782-83, in Captain Clendenin's company, Northampton County militia. He was born and died in Weaverville, Pa. Daniel Kerr was a private in Capt. James Devane's company, New Hanover County, North Carolina militia. He was born in Scotland; died, 1820, in North Carolina.
To add to this string...The middle name of my multiple great grandfather (born NC 1822) was Kerr. Seems that Kerr was known for taking in orphans to help raise them to adulthood, if I remember right. He is noted several times for his bcivic duties for the social wellbeing of folks in the area of Rutherford County and vicinity (Broad River, Old Tryon Co., 96 district, etc).
