I have been told that Colonel William Pendleton, B 1704, R.I., D 1786, R.I. served in the Revolution. Where should I start looking for information about him? Jean Cromwell <[email protected]>
Would he have gone by another name? There are several Pendleton's listed in the DAR Index. Jean -- The authority on this family is: Everett Hall Pendleton, *Brian Pendleton And His Descendants 1599-1910* (1910), xii, 860 pp. and its sequel by the same author, *Early New England Pendletons. . . .* (1956), viii, 354 pp. His military service was primarily during the French and Indian Wars. He was age 71 at the time of Lexington & Concord. From 1762 to 1781, he was President of the Westerly Town Council which was involved with raising troops, etc., but apparently he never commanded during the Rev War.
