    3. Mary, I'll give you the basics on each file. They are all hand written and hard to read. There are many pages with each name (up to 20) so lets see if we can narrow it down before I send the pages... just let me know. I did glance over the entire Burton listings and none are shown from SC but that is not unusual. There are too many to read them all but these are the ones I checked. Jackie *Josiah Burton* File # W20813 Josiah Burton spouse Abigail COLBORN/COLBURN BURTON Abagail Burton filed for pension from City of Norwich County of Windsor State of VT age 87 Josiah served as a Sargeant in the Rev War Army Josiah lived in Norwich when he enlisted in 1777 for 3 years and fought against the Susquahanna Indians. Josiah andAbigail were married June 23, 1785 Josiah died March 13th 1814 Abagail died 19th Oct 1848 Affidavit of Betsey Barnum her daughter, widow of Charles Barnum dated 1845 from Norwich VT Only surviving children of Abagail are Betsey Barnum and Polly Goodrich wife of Levi Goodrich of Norwich VT. Josiah was wounded by gunfire (bullet through the leg) while under the service of Gen. Sullivan, on the Indian campaign. No other family info is given - 6 pages *Jarret/Jarrett Burton* (File # R1517)of VA served from that state, filed from Macon Co KY - no family info available. *James Burton* (File # S48412/BLWT1924-300) Served from VA, b. Orange Co VA, wife Elizabeth, children, James, William, John, Bezaleel/Besabel, Francis Goodrich, Ann Elizabeth Burton, Nancy Brown, Ursula Burton, Elizabeth Stone, and Polly A. Brent. In 1833 the only son living was Besabel and he is shortly 21. *James Burton* (File# ) enlisted CT, filed for App from CT, died Dozer NY, wife Naoma. *John Burton*, File # R1518, filed from Guersey Co Ohio in 1838., enlisted from Buckley Co VA. Spouse Sarah. Affadavit of Christian Clark, formally Christian Burton, dated Oct 1850 from Gurnsey Co Ohio. She is the child of John Burton Sr. She mentions her sister Margaret Speers and brothers Bazil (parts unknown) and John, all of Ohio but Bazil. Per her affadavit, her parents lived in VA, PA and Ohio. *John Burton* File # R1519 , filed from NY, enlisted NY, lived in RI when he enlisted. *John Burton* File # S32146, enlisted while living in Mecklenburg Co VA, born there, filed from Ill, moved to Rutheford CO TN in 1807 from Mecklenburg Co VA, then to Sangamon Co Ill in 1827. Died Jan 30, 1839. Survived by children, names not given, wife's name not given. *John Burton*, File #S46831, mustered in, wounded twice at Germantown, and taken prisioner on Oct 4, 1777, once in the head and once in the hip, released on the 28th, and discharged on April 30th 1778, Rank, Sargeant in the 5th VA Regiment, Residence Co. of Henrico VA. Affadavit of daughter Sarah A Foose. John Burton died Dec 27, 1828 in Henrico Co Va. Mentions he had 4 children, only mentions Sarah and a son William who was deceased by 1850. *John Burton*, File # W4140, residence Hertford Co NC, died 3 Dec 1800 in Hertford Co NC, m. Susannah MANER/MANIER BURTON 7th May 1792, Surviving children are mentioned but not named. John was born in VA. Shsannah Burton died in Hertford Co NC after the age of 84 but the date is not given either.
