    3. Ernie, Pvt. John Stoops did not appear in the Saratoga index but that doesn't mean that he didn't serve with Daniel Morgan in some of the battles. I did note that you were looking for John stoops in Cumberland County. A part of Cumberland County was part of Maryland early on. So, I did a Google search of : "John Stoops", Maryland and found a great many websites with lots of information on the Stoops family. John Stoops must have been quite well-known in early Maryland and some of the sites do have references to the American Revolution. Maybe this will help?
