I didn't write "Where do you find a local DAR chapter?" I answered someone who wrote that. I've been a member for years, with 17 proven ancestors and one pending. Have held many offices; and completed applications for 20 new members in the past year. I still say the easiest and quickest way to find a chapter is to Google or use any web browser by writing "DAR Oregon" or wherever. Most state web sites have listings of all chapters in the state with links to the registrar or regent's e-mail address. Another point is that the latest edition of the DAR Patriot Index is already outdated and the National web site is the best way to check for proven patriots. Officers of the local chapters have access to the very latest information. There is also a web site for non-members at http://www.dar.org/ At that site you can find a "patriot lookup" request form. If you fill out that form you will get a response from National within a few days. And of course, you really don't need to try to remember any of these addresses -- just put DAR in the browser and scroll down to find National or your state.
