    1. [AMERICAN-REVOLUTION] NY 4th regiment, continental line, 1775

    3. Can anyone point me to one or more sources for info regarding the original NY 4th regiment. It was commanded by a Col. James Holmes and only lasted from about mid 1775 to mid 1776. It apparently saw action at Ft. Ticondaroga in the winter of 1775 and headed for Quebec afterwards. The unit ended up being dissolved in 1776 and absorbed into new units in that year. The reason for the break up of the original unit was that most enlistment's at that time were for only 6 months. Some went home, others stayed on with the unit headed for Quebec. I need some sort of documentation, i.e.: muster rolls, pay roll lists or something identifying the individuals in the unit. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you, DLS
