I am seeking info about the American Revolution-- my ancestor, John BURNS, was killed in the war- it is believed that he was an assistant commissary under Sumter in 1781 and was in the Battle of Sumter's Defeat; I do not know if that is when/how he died or not. However, I would like more info about this Battle--who led it, where, what happened. Also, he was to have served under Capt. Benjamin Tutt's Independent Co. in 1779 and 1780; in 1781 he also was in the militia under Capt. Turner and Col. Winn. He died in 1782. I would like any suggestions for how/where to find info on these military men, or any information about the places/battles. thanks~! Linda
