If Zebedee is recognized in the DAR patriot list, then you should be able to use him as an ancestor to join. Pat is correct. If your ancestor is listed as a DAR Patriot, you don't have to prove his service just your connection to him. Send to the DAR for a copy of the papers on Zebedee and they will list his service and the ancestral line of the person who first joined DAR using his service. See the DAR web site below for a form. http://www.dar.org/library/record_copy.cfm Lynn Brandvold DAR member Pat Reeser wrote: > If Zebedee is recognized in the DAR patriot list, then you should be able to > use him as an ancestor to join. > > Pat Reeser > > ----- Original Message ----- > From: "IRIS L M MILLER" <irislm@kc.rr.com> > To: <american-revolution@rootsweb.com> > Sent: Tuesday, October 03, 2006 9:58 AM > Subject: [AMERICAN-REVOLUTION] ICHABOD HOW/ZEBEDEE DELANO > > >> Hi List Members >> >> I hope someone here can help me >> >> Appreciate any help or suggestion anyone can offer that might lead me to >> finding the information I need. >> >> I'm searching for the Roster of men who served under Captain ICHABOD HOW >> of Winthrop, Massachusetts/Maine. >> >> "Ichabod How was chosen to represent the town in a Provincial Congress, to >> be holden at Cambridge, >> the first day of Feb., 1775 they then proceeded to choose "military >> officers to discipline the inhabitants, agreeably to the directions of >> Provincial Congress" "A brief History of Winthrop" David Thurston pg. 71 >> >> My fifth Great-Grandfather ZEBEDEE DELANO was selected 8th on the 1st day >> of February 1775 in Winthrop Maine to serve as 4th Sargent. >> >> I very much want Zebedee Delano recognized by the DAR. >> I have the above Information from" A Brief History of Winthrop" David >> Thurston pg. 69-75, but this doesn't fall in the excepectable time frame >> 18 April 1776- November 1783. >> >> It doesn't make since to me that Zebedee Delano would volunteer to serve >> his County the 1st day of Feb 1775 and would not still be ready to serve >> his Country on or after the 18th April 1776. >> He live until 1804, I would guess he was in good health. >> >> Zebedee Delano is also listed DAR Patriot Index Volume I A-F pg. 738 >> and Founders And Patriots Of America Index pg. 66. listed With wife Sarah >> Worthy (should be Northy) >> >> Would anyone have a good explanation why Zebedee Delano service was >> denied? >> >> Thanks, Appreciate your time, >> >> Iris >> >> >> >> >> -------------------------------------------------------------------- >> We have archives! Thanks, But not good enough. Zebedee Delano documentation has been denied until I or someone can find a dated document with his name on it between April 18 1776 - Nov. 1783. That's why I'm trying to find Captain Ichabod How's Roster of enlisted men. Hopefully that will help.
