    1. Re: Green River, KY etc.
    2. Thanks to Tanimary and Barbara who responded via the list to my inquiry. Philip A. Conner came to the US from England as a teen about 1770. He served in the VA Continental Line, not the militia. I have seen the name Philemon Conner during extensive research and there is no known connection. Also, I am aware and have photostats of Philip's pension application filed both in Ohio around 1815 and later amended in Jennings Co. Indiana as he reached very old age. He helped his son Willoughby raise many of his ultimately 13 children there before Philip died in 1928. There is no known connection of Philip A. to a Charles or any other sibling. When he came to American as a teen he presumably lived with someone here, probably around Norfolk, VA from which area he enlisted in the Continental Line in 1775. There were Conner families in the area, but no connection has been made. One biography of a grandson says Philip left Virginia because of his distaste for slavery (he was also a Methodist minister of note) and another researcher suggests farming suffered a serious recession in the first decade of the 1800s in the East. Thus the problem I face is the 1806-1815 period before their appearance in Ohio, and secondarily where was a destination referred to as "Green River Ky" as opposed to on the Green River or along the Green River, etc. Once again, thanks to those who responded.
