    1. Corps of Light Infantry-1779
    2. Revolutionary War buffs, In researching the contribution of forces, I have found that six companies of Virginia men were assigned to the 1st Light Infantry Regiment of the Corps of Light Infantry formed in the summer of 1779 under Brigadier General Anthony Wayne. The 1st LI Regiment was made up of six companies of Virginians and two of Pennsylvanians for a total of eight companies. The commander of the 1st LI Regiment was Colonel Christian Febiger of the 2d VA Regiment. The Lt. Col. was Louis de Fleury, a Frenchman, and the Major was Thomas Posey of the 11th VA Regiment. The following Captains were in the 1st LI Regiment: Samuel Booker, Robert Gamble, Gist, Glen, Hambleton, John Hunter Holt, Claiborne Lawson, Quass, Clough Shelton, and William Taylor (10). Of these Booker, Gamble, Lawson, Quass, and Shelton (total of 5) are known to be VA LI company commanders. At this point I am searching for the sixth VA LI company commander.
