    1. [AMERICAN-REVOLUTION] AMERICAN-REVOLUTION Digest, VALLEY FORGE MUSTER ROLL -FYI
    2. http://valleyforgemusterroll.org/QueryMSAccess.asp You can search by soldiers' last name alone or combine it with either the state and/or the regiment of the soldier to make the search more specific. Please note though that unless you are absolutely sure of the state and/or the regiment of the troop a last name alone search will probably be more productive. You can however use the state search to find all of the troops from that state or combine it with a particular last name to find all of the troops with that last name from that state. The same scenario holds true with the regiment box. NA (non-applicable) is the default for the state and regiment. In addition, you can also search by a partial last name. For example, if you are looking for "Smythe" and are not sure of the spelling you can put "SM" in the last name box, press "EXECUTE" and all troops with a last name starting with "SM" will be returned to include "SMYTHE". If  the Query Results screen does not display any results after executing the search that indicates there are no records meeting your search criteria. Please Review the Disclaimer.

If he matches with what you know, it is easy and inexpensive to write for a copy of the membership application(s) that should have evidence for this data as well as for his service. If his record is currently flagged as erroneously attributed, then you will need to dig in records available locally and possibly in the National Archives to prove that Service 'X' matches with person 'Y'. If you don't have this information on 'your' Jeremiah, you'll want to do the standard genealogical work in land and estate records, tax lists, etc., as available wherever you believed him to be at a given time, beginning with what you already have proved. Good hunting, Judy

    1. [AMERICAN-REVOLUTION] Jeremiah /John Wilcher of Rockbridge Co., VA Am. Rev. service
    2. Peg Michenzi
    3. My query was to identify the battles and men who served in the Am. Rev. from Rockbridge Co. ~ specifically those mentioned in the subject. I need proof of service for DAR application. Jeremiah is in the DAR Patriot's Index but not John. I am not sure that the listed Jeremiah is the sought after patriot. Any suggestions appreciated. Peg

    3. Sorry, I hit the wrong button and my posting was sent before I wrote it! Wanted to ask Peg: Could you explain your question re. the Rockbridge men in the Revolution? Was it in response to a recent posting? There were several rather famous battles that Rockbridge Co. men took part in, but I suspect you may be referring to a particular group mentioned in mail to this list that I overlooked. 3. Yes, the TIDD clan(s) is from Connecticut. It is a bit confusing though, because according Martin TIDD's deposition in 1784 (reprinted in the Pennsylvania Archives and Susquehannah Company Papers) he is accused of dispossessing Yankee settlers from their land and homes. I always thought he would have been on the Yankee (Connecticut) side versus the Pennamite ('native' Pennsylvanian). It sure demonstrates the state spirit rather than a national concept of being an American. This is rather important in the Civil War as well, from the Southern perspective.
